A Zoroastrian woman spreading harmal or “Esphand” seeds on the fire after finishing a religious ritual to honour the souls of the Iranian soldiers who have lost their lives for Iran throughout history. About: Sarah Jabbari
Sarah Jabbari is a visual storyteller from Tehran, Iran. With a Bachelor's in Photography from the University of Art, Tehran, Iran and a Master's degree in Art History and Art Appreciation from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. Upon graduation, she was awarded a scholarship for a program in photojournalism at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark. She has recently completed her PhD research in Fine Arts from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India, on the topic of "Gender Representation in Photography of Iran and Parsis of India in Nineteen-Century: A Comparative Study." Her interest lies in Gender, religion, culture and their reflection in the visual culture.
